Intelligent water and sewage network
Implementation of the Central Measurement Data Repository for MPWiK Wrocław
MPWiK Wrocław, in collaboration with ConnectPoint, has implemented the Central Measurement Data Repository (CRDP) – a system that integrates data from the water supply and sewerage networks in real time. This enables better management of the infrastructure and a more effective response to the challenges posed by climate change and variable weather conditions.
The Challenge
MPWiK manages an extensive infrastructure: over 2,035 km of water mains, 1,418 km of sewerage networks, two water treatment plants, and supplies water to 630,000 residents.
Key challenges include:
- ongoing monitoring of network parameters,
- maintaining pressure,
- rapid fault location,
- reducing response times,
- optimising pumping station operations and energy consumption,
- improving forecasts for production and reservoir levels,
- integrating data from multiple systems,
- and ensuring stable supplies despite extreme weather events.
Solution
ConnectPoint has implemented a Central Measurement Data Repository (CRDP) based on the Aveva PI System, which integrates data from multiple sources in real time and forms a key element of MPWiK’s digital transformation.
Key features:
- Asset Framework model mapping the structure of the network and equipment,
- analytical module for creating formulas and indicators (e.g. flow balances),
- automatic anomaly notification system,
- integration of weather and piezometric data,
- visualisation of network operating parameters in Aveva PI,
- integration with BI tools for operational teams.
ConnectPoint was responsible for the full configuration of the repository, analytical logic, the alarm system and integration with MPWiK’s reporting.
